Mailing
Receiving Mail:

General Delivery: Mail can be sent to almost any city in the US through General Delivery to almost any city or town with a post office. The mail will go to a special desk in the central post office, unless you specify a post office by street address or postal code. It is always better to send it to the biggest post office in the area, and mail can be sent there regardless of what is written on the envelope. It is safer and quicker to send the mail express or registered. Remember to bring a photo ID, if at all possible a passport. Check for both names when at the post office.

Sending Mail Home from the USA and Canada:

A Standard Letter can be sent abroad in an average of about 4-7 business days. The cost is $1.50. For packages up to 4lbs. use Global Priority Mail, for delivery to major locations in 3-5 days business days for a flat rate of $5. If regular mail is to slow you can use FEDEX can get a letter from New York to Sydney for a nice $30. By US Express Mail, a letter would arrive within 4 business days and would cost $15. Surface Mail is the cheapest and the slowest way to send mail. It takes one to three months to cross the Atlantic and two to four to cross the Pacific -- the exact way for sending large quantities of items that you will not need to use anytime soon.
