Getting Around and getting there
Most visitors use private vehicles to get around Yellowstone National Park. There is no public transportation service provided within the park.
Driving by automobile is by far the most popular way to get to Yellowstone. In the summer 5 major roads lead into the park.
They are:
North: enter via Gardiner on US 89
West: enter via West Yellowstone on US 20
South: enter via Jackson and US 89
East: Enter via Cody on US 16
Northeast: Enter via Silver Gate and Cooke City on US 212
In winter, there is only one road open to automobiles. All other entrances are open to over-snow travel, at least for nowˇ¦Gardiner to Cooke City open in winter

By Air
Yellowstone has no airports of its own, but communities surrounding the park offer major airline service. From there, you can rent a car or join a tour. Commercial airlines serve the following airports near Yellowstone National Park all year: Cody and Jackson, WY; Bozeman and Billings, MT, and Idaho Falls, ID. The West Yellowstone, MT airport is serviced from June to early September.

Bozeman: 87 miles north of park
West Yellowstone (summer season only): 3 miles west of park limited service
Jackson: 56 miles south of park
